Atlanta AquariumThe Atlanta aquarium is scheduled to open November 23, 2005. The Atlanta aquarium plans to delight their visitors with majestic exhibits that inspire, entertain and educate. The Atlanta aquarium claims to be the largest Aquarium in the World, with more than 100,000 aquatic animals from over 500 species, and eight million gallons of fresh and marine water The Atlanta aquarium is expected to enhance Georgia tourism and provide local residents with a world-class entertainment attraction they will want to visit again and again. The city of Atlanta hopes that the Atlanta aquarium will anchor downtown’s revitalization efforts, which will be a benefit to both the city and the state, expecting to attract more than 2 million visitors in the first year. The Atlanta aquarium will create more than 200 job opportunities and offer hundreds of additional volunteer positions for local residents of Atlanta. The Atlanta aquarium will also add a new dimension to Georgia’s education curriculum. 25% of the public floor space has been dedicated to educating students of all ages who visit the Atlanta Aquarium. Annually, 70,000 schoolchildren are expected to participate in the Aquarium’s educational programs. This is an experience that will be integrated with the new curriculum standards for the state of Georgia. The Aquarium will utilize innovative technologies as well as interactive and interdisciplinary techniques to ensure that students have an enjoyable academic experience. The Atlanta aquarium will support, conduct and lead research on environmental and conservation issues as well to assist in the global conservation efforts that are underway at many facilities. The Atlanta aquarium is located in Downtown Atlanta, across from Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia World Congress Centre. There is also premier ballroom and event space available for conferences and special group meetings and parties.
