Boston Aquarium

The Boston Aquarium also known as the New England Aquarium is one of the best sites to witness ocean life along the north east coast of the United States. Located in the Cape Cod region of Boston, the Boston Aquarium is a very popular tourist location and for good reason. You don’t have to be an avid aquarium enthusiast to enjoy this visit and chances are that by the end of your visit you will have a greater appreciation for the wonders of life under water. Plan a whale watching tour or take a leisurely stroll through all of the displays and you will no doubt learn something new about a part of the world that one does not often get a chance to see.

One of the great features of the Boston Aquarium is the multilevel salt water Ocean Tank. You can have different perspectives when viewing the sea turtles, sharks, moray eels and many of the other fish inside the tank. The habitat that they swim in is among the most scientifically accurate and detailed recreation of coral reef. This only enhances the overall experience and makes you feel like you are looking through a window into the open ocean.

The Boston Aquarium’s Freshwater exhibit will leave you with a sense of the delicate balance of life in the sea. Eco-systems including the flooded forest floors in South America are quickly disappearing making it harder to find many of the fish inhabiting this display. Species here include piranhas, electric eel and Atlantic salmon.

There are many more species to view so you might work up a hunger. There are plenty of places to sit down and catch a bite to eat while you re-energize yourself from all the excitement. For more information you can go to www.neaq.org.
