Georgia Aquarium

 

The Georgia aquarium claims to be the biggest Aquarium in the World, with more than 100,000 marine animals from over 500 species, and 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water. The Georgia aquarium is scheduled to open November 23, 2005. The Georgia aquarium is going to delight their visitors with majestic exhibits that inspire, entertain and educate.

The city of Atlanta anticipates that the Georgia aquarium will anchor the downtown’s revitalization efforts, which will benefit to both the city and the state, who are expecting to attract more than 2 million visitors in the first year. The Georgia aquarium is expected to enhance Georgia tourism and provide local residents with a world-class entertainment attraction they will want to visit over and over. The Georgia aquarium will create more than two hundred job opportunities and offer hundreds of additional volunteer positions for local residents of Atlanta.

The Georgia aquarium will also add a new dimension to Georgia’s education curriculum. As much as 25% of the public floor space has been dedicated to educating students of all ages who visit the Georgia Aquarium. Every year, 70,000 schoolchildren are expected to participate in the Aquarium’s educational programs. This is an experience that will be integrated with the new curriculum school standards for the state of Georgia. The Georgia Aquarium will utilize innovative new technologies as well as interactive and multi-disciplinary techniques to ensure that students have an enjoyable academic experience. The Georgia aquarium will lead research on environmental and conservation issues as well to assist in the global conservation efforts that are underway at many facilities.

The Georgia aquarium is located in Downtown Atlanta, across from Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia World Congress Centre. There is also premier ballroom and event space available for conferences and special group meetings and parties.
