Houston Downtown Aquarium

The Houston downtown aquarium came together when two landmarks were combined into one fantastic amusement and entertainment centre. The central waterworks building was combined with the fire station No. 1 building and built into a huge six acre entertainment and dining complex. The aquatic pool has over 500,000 gallons of water and is home to over 200 species of fish and other aquatic life. There is a full service restaurant, ballroom facilities and an upscale bar. There is shopping and a variety of other amusements in and around the Houston Downtown Aquarium.

The Houston Downtown Aquarium also has amusements in addition to an aquarium adventure exhibit. The Houston Downtown Aquarium adventure exhibit includes a Louisiana Swamp with live alligators and even a rain forest with poison dart fogs. In addition the adventure exhibit, there is the Houston Downtown Aquarium diving bell ferris wheel which provides a great view of the downtown Houston skyline.

Imagine having dinner at the full service restaurant beside the glass aquarium and watching the various fish and other aquatic animals that are just swimming by within a few inches of you on the other side of the glass. There are sharks, fish, stingrays and much more that you can enjoy and watch while you are enjoying your dinner in the restaurant in the Houston Downtown Aquarium.

The Houston Downtown Aquarium is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 am to 10 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 11 pm. There is also a small train that tours the complex. They call this train the CP Huntington train. With so much to see at the Houston Downtown Aquarium, we know you will not be disappointed when you spend a day or two at the Houston Downtown Aquarium.
